Three William Ford Elementary School Students Awarded for Their Outstanding Writing at the 2017 Young Authors’ Festival.

Three students from William Ford Elementary School in Dearborn received awards for their writing at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Mardigian Library’s fifth annual Young Authors’ Festival.  The half-day event was held in the library on Saturday, Nov. 11. Approximately 80 young writers from grades 3 to 5, parents, and teachers listened as the award winners read aloud excerpts from their winning entries.

Receiving awards from William Ford Elementary were:
·         3rd Grade, 1st Prize: Abdalmuhymin Albousefi for “A Time I Stood Up to Bullying,”

 ·         3rd Grade, 2nd Prize: Garam Muqbel for “Bullying,”

 ·         3rd Grade, 3rd Prize: Mustafa Mejbel for “Stand Up to a Bully.

The 2017 Young Authors’ Writing Contest received approximately 150 entries from children in grades 3 to 5.  This year’s theme was “Standing Up for What You Believe In.”  Entries were judged by UM-Dearborn pre-service teachers.
